WESTSIDE STORY GRASSROOTS THEATRE TRIP

REVIEW by Bina Davies

On the 14th January 2009, I and a few other clients from grassroots were taken by members of staff to the millennium centre to watch the musical Westside story. We met at Grassroots by half past 6. Paul Marsh who is the advice room worker at Grassroots prepared a curry and then we set off to the bay on a train. I really enjoyed the night. It was fantastic I was shocked at how much I actually enjoyed the show because at first I was not going to attend but I am now glad that I did. The whole setting of the show was fantastic and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening from start to finish. I loved how I could relate to the story. The performance given by the cast was superb, the lady who played Maria had a fantastic voice and the talent on the stage was amazing. There was a few things in the play that upset me somewhat. The rape scene being one, but I understand and was glad that it was shown as it made me realise that rape, gun and knife crime is not a recent thing. It happened back then to and I really liked the fact that this was shown. The overall night was fantastic and I would definitely attend the theatre again.
